OUR PROCESS

No Stone Unturned
We don’t know the meaning of lab grown. Our medicinal mushrooms are grown the old-fashioned way–on buried logs in hoop houses to perfectly mimic their natural environment.

The Fruiting Body – Where the Action Is
Once harvested, we extract our mushrooms from the fruiting body ONLY. This part of the mushrooms is jam-packed with the medicinal benefits and makes our bars the absolute best on the market.

The Final Test
To ensure we’ve got the finest medicinal mushroom product on the market, we then rigorously test our mushrooms for potency, safety, and purity. Without boring you with the scientific details, we test for things like:

• Bacteria, yeast and mold, e. coli, and coliforms
• Heavy metals
• Pesticide testing
• Beta-glucans to insure presence of active compounds
• Ergosterol to insure fungal purity
• Alpha-glucan testing to guard against adulterants and carriers
• Reishi extracts are analyzed for triterpenoids and cordyceps extracts are analyzed for cordycepin

THE EXTRACTION PROCESS

Not all mushrooms are created equal. That means not every mushroom should be extracted with the exact same process. To maintain the potency of the mushroom, and enhance its benefits, we use two extraction methods.

HOT WATER EXTRACTION

Water extraction mobilizes the soluble beta-glucans and other nutritional compounds from the fiber. Research has shown that the most immunologically active compounds in mushrooms are in the soluble beta-glucans.

For this reason, our Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Shiitake, and Tremella are all hot water extracted.

THE NEXT LEVEL

Some mushrooms contain benefits that go above and beyond the beta-glucans. These mushrooms need an additional step in the extraction process to squeeze every last bit of goodness out of them.

Lion’s Mane, Chaga, and Reishi all undergo this secondary extraction called Ethanol extraction (dual extraction).
